Rumor has it that Michael Keaton’s next project is the dark McDonald’s biopic titled The Founder.

If McDonald’s was a supervillain (and that point can be argued), this would be its origin story – and Batman will be flipping the burgers.

The Hollywood Reporter writes today that Michael Keaton is in talks to star in The Founder, which is described as a “dark” story recounting the early days of the McDonald’s fast food chain.

Keaton would be playing Ray Kroc, the Illinois salesman who turned the McDonald brothers’ burger joint into the multi-million dollar corporation it is today.

The 1950s period piece is similar to The Social Network in tone, showing how the rise of an empire does not come without personal failure and sacrifice.

And the Social Network parallels might be painfully obvious when you watch the movie: in The Founder we’ll see Kroc pull McDonald’s from the initial founders Mac and Dick, similarly to how Mark Zuckerberg was depicted as stealing the Facebook concept from the Winklevoss twins.

The Founder is penned by Robert Siegel, and will be directed by John Lee Hancock.

Michael Keaton recently celebrated a Best Actor win at the 2015 Golden Globes for his role in Birdman.

He can next be seen in Spotlight, another true story about how the Boston Globe’s uncovered a child molestation scandal within the Catholic church.
