The upcoming indie, Jane Got a Gun, has Natalie Portman attached to star in the film. Now Michael Fassbender is in talks to play one of the male leads.

Lynne Ramsay, known for her films We Need to Talk About Kevin, Ratcatcher, and Morvern Callar, is now in the works to create a Western titled Jane Got a Gun. Portman would play “a woman whose outlaw husband returns home barely alive and riddled with bullet wounds. She is forced to reach out to an ex-lover and ask if he will help defend her farm when her husband’s gang eventually tracks him down to finish the job.” Fassbender is in discussions to play Portman’s ex-lover.

Portman is also producing this $20 million budget film, and it will be interesting to see whether or not Fassbender will end up signing on to the film. Currently, Fassbender is shooting The Counselor with his Prometheus director, Ridley Scott. Jane is written by Brian Duffield, and the script was actually originally on last year’s Hollywood’s “black list.”

There isn’t any news on when the film will be released, but our guess is that it will begin shooting early next year.  Would you like to see Portman and Fassbender together in Jane Got a Gun?
