Yesterday, we told you Paramount Pictures will release the fourth installment of Transformers on June 29, 2014.  Series producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura was originally unsure whether or not Michael Bay would return to direct the fourth film, but a new announcement now states otherwise.  News sources also ponder about Shia LaBeouf returning to the films.

Bonaventura confirmed to MTV that Bay will return, as reported by Total Film. Since the series is having a “reboot” to hopefully boost the poor reviews,  suspicions are that LaBeouf won’t be invited to come back.

“Yeah Michael’s gonna direct and it’ll be releasing in the summer of 2014,” said Bonaventura. “We’re excited and I think the challenge there is we really are gonna do a reboot, and what that’s gonna be we don’t even know yet.”

That said, both 2009’s Revenge Of The Fallen and last year’s Dark Of The Moon received a critical drubbing, which is perhaps why the mega-director has decided to give the franchise a refresh.

We can probably count series regular Shia Labeouf out, then, so expect a new lead and a shiny new set of Autobots for the franchise that refuses to die with any dignity.

Considering Bay and Bonaventura are both returning to hopefully rejuvenate the series, and with the possibility of LaBeouf no longer starring, do you think the fourth episode will be successful? Or a continuing downfall?
