A Metroid and Star Fox crossover developed by Retro Studios could be heading to the Wii U if rumors are true.

According to the Paul Gale Network, the same blog who originally broke the news of the then unnamed PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale, Retro was torn whether to work on a Metroid or Star Fox title, to which Nintendo responded with an alternative: do both.

The game is reportedly being called Star Fox – Metroid: Fusion Saga. The story is rumored to include Fox and his crew crashing into Samus’ ship, sending her down to an unknown planet where they must search for her. The main villain of the game could be Andross of the Star Fox franchise who is attempting to harness Metroids.

The Star Fox segments would be based on third-person air and land-based combat with a focus on action. Metroid portions will be more isolated and in a first-person perspective like Metroid Prime.

Though the Pale Gale Network has been credible in the past, even they are cautioning that they are unsure of the validity of this news, so don’t go making your preorders just yet.

Hopefully we’ll hear something at Nintendo’s E3 press conference on June 5.

If a Retro developed Star FoxMetroid cross-over does really exist, how excited would you be over the news?
