Revealed earlier this week, debut footage from the next Metal Gear, now officially known as Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, was shown to the public at PAX Prime earlier today.

Series creator Hideo Kojima says the gameplay demo was recorded in real-time, running on a PC with specs that were comparable to a PlayStation 3.

Kojima confirmed the game is running on the new FOX Engine that can run on current-gen consoles as well as be scaled up for the next generation of systems.

Also confirmed was the game’s open-world and the option to call in a helicopter to provide support durring a mission or ferry Snake to another part of the world.

Following the demo, Kojima clarified Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is not necessarily Metal Gear Solid 5, but called it a “prologue.”

“One thing I want to make clear is that Ground Zeroes is something I’m making myself,” Polygon recorded Kojima as saying. “I want to make it clear that Snake is back, but I’m also back.”
