Looking for a new game to play? Interested in experiencing more of the independent games industry that produced hits such as Minecraft and Slender?

Check out Metacell, a new game that combines the classic concept of match-three gaming with exciting challenges and a sci-fi storyline. Players live in the world of the Imperium, a galactic empire, and follow the paladin Dominic Moore as he attempts to save the universe. Gameplay involves the player piloting a ship around a massive creature called the Metacell, dodging its defenses, and collecting the pickups generated by matches.

The player starts by shooting randomly generated genes toward the center of the Metacell and attempting to make matches of three or more like genes within the creature. As players progress through each level, the Metacell produces traps and complications to increase the challenge of the game.

Metacell was created by Products for Robots, a small independent development company in Athens, GA. It is a PC game, and a free 60 minute demo of the current beta is available on the Products for Robots website. The current beta version can be purchased for $4.99 via Paypal, as well as appearing on GameStop PC Downloads and GamersGate.

But wait, there’s more! Products for Robots is launching a Kickstarter campaign on 12/12/12 in order to release the full version of the game. If you want to sample the game to decide if you would like to donate, this is your shot!
