How I Met Your Mother season 9 episode 3 “Last Time in New York” wastes no time getting the wedding weekend started.

The episode synopsis for “Last Time in New York” explains: “When Lily discovers Ted’s list of things he wants to do in New York before he moves for Chicago, she becomes frustrated that she is the only person who knows about his plans. Meanwhile, Robin and Barney realize they have very little time together before their relatives arrive for their wedding.”
We’ve already seen a clip of Robin and Barney’s panic, which you can read about here. The blonde actress in the photo above is Cynthia Murell, credited on IMDb as simply ‘Gorgeous Woman.’

It’s semi-cryptic, which is definitely a staple in How I Met Your Mother storytelling. If “Last Time in New York” is not an official two-parter, then it leaves us to wonder how the episode will end – cliffhanger, perhaps?
After last week’s poignant ending (the Mother and Ted! Happy and in love!), it would not be surprising to see HIMYM try to tug at your heartstrings as often as possible in these last episodes. Over the years, the show has had some ridiculously sad episodes for being a half-hour comedy – see, “Bad News” in season 6 and “Symphony of Illumination” in season 7.
With the duties of this season being multi-fold: get Robin and Barney down the aisle, have Ted fall in love with the Mother (name still unknown), ensure the audience that everyone will have a happy, or at least, satisfying, ending, the writers have their work cut out for them.
