Forget Merlin and Arthur, right?! Sir Leon is clearly the real star of Merlin, and Rupert Young tells Bradley James why in this hilarious new clip.

Here’s a fun video to distract you from all the angstiness of the Merlin finale. Because yes, we had some real heartbreak, but if there’s an old solid rock in Camelot, it is and always will be Sir Leon.

Check out this fun video in which Bradley James talks to Rupert Young about his awesome TV series Leon. It’s a big hit, we hear:

Young explains that it was the showrunners Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy who approached him with Leon. “I like this idea,” he told them, “but: let’s start the series without Leon.” So then they went with this little magician guy who was also pretty cool.

Another important question is of course the drastically changing hair styles of Sir Leon – which actually turns out to be a hugely important story device. We should have known. And the makeup people just don’t understand just how vital The Hair really is. Luckily they’ve got Young there to instruct them; he’s also got some words for the costume department.

He also hails the entrance of Sir Leon into the story in series 2, which is both unforgettable and should be mentioned alongside David Bowie’s Labyrinth debut. Clearly.

And finally we get some hilarious on-set antics in which Young tries to take James’ lines.

Oh, Leon. We’re all laughing now, but maybe we should be campaigning for a Leon/Gwen spinoff series?!
