The Merlin series 5, volume 1 DVD box set was released today in the UK, and you can now watch the deleted scenes online!

Although we are still sad about the imminent end of Merlin (only five episodes to go!), that’s not going to stop us from enjoying the final season of the show.

On the DVD set that was released today, you can find a host of awesome bonus material, including the blooper reel we posted earlier. Check out the deleted scenes from the first six episodes of series 5 below:

From the series premiere “Arthur’s Bane,” we get some more scenes featuring Merlin and Arthur spending the night in the freezing north, as well as Percival doing some fighting:

The deleted scenes from “Arthur’s Bane, Part 2” show Gwen interacting with Elyan and Leon, while Arthur and Merlin are still freezing in the north, and Arthur tries to send Merlin back to Camelot:

For “The Death Song of Uther Pendragon,” we got to see Arthur reminiscing about his father and admitting to Merlin that he still misses him. The deleted scenes also include a tender moment between Arthur and Gwen, more instances of Uther haunting the castle, and Merlin and Gaius discussing how to exorcise Uther’s spirit:

There is only one deleted scene from “Another’s Sorrow,” in which Mordred asks to come along on Arthur’s quest to rescue Mithian’s father. Mordred is very unhappy that Arthur isn’t allowing him to come, but Arthur promises him that, “You’ll be one of my best. And soon.” Watch:

In the deleted scene from “The Disir,” we see Gaius express concern for Merlin, who is worried about Mordred and Arthur’s destiny:

The final deleted scene is from “The Dark Tower.” It shows Merlin and Arthur talking about why Morgana would kidnap Gwen, and Arthur wonders what happened to Morgana and whether he could have saved her from becoming evil:

Which deleted scene was your favourite? Did you wish that any of these had made it into the final cut?

Merlin returns Saturday with the ninth episode of series 5, entitled “With All My Heart.”
