A video interview with Merlin star Colin Morgan sees the actor reflecting back on filming his final scene, and closing the door on the story continuing.

Yesterday SyFy brought us an interview with Bradley James (Arthur), and today it’s Colin Morgan’s turn to answer fan questions!

When asked whether he’s put some of himself into Merlin, Morgan says that Merlin is definitely very separate to himself, but things do leak in unintentionally. However, after five years of playing the character, he still doesn’t have any magic (we’d be bummed, too).

Morgan also says that in his future career, “I just want to be involved with good stories,” and with people who are passionate about the characters and the script.

Speaking about Merlin, Morgan reflects on how tough it has been for the character to play the role of the fool when he isn’t one, and accept that others will take credit for what he’s done. And, “sometimes it’s difficult to put a face on that, and still be the unrecognised.”

His favourite memory of filming Merlin is, as he has said before, his very first day on the set. His first scene was with Richard Wilson (Gaius), and Morgan reflects on how nicely it book-ended his experience on the show that the very final scene he filmed was also with Wilson. (Note: this doesn’t mean that the final scene of Merlin will be between Merlin and Gaius!)

He leaves us with a potential hint about how the series ends, saying that, “I think unfortunately, the doors have been closed on Merlin. No, it’s goodbye.”

But not yet! The final episode of the series will air on December 24, and we here on Hypable are intent on celebrating until the very end – no matter what that end may be. So join us for our A Month of Merlin celebration, and check back later today for our comprehensive guide to how the show will end (well… every possible way we think it could, anyway)!
