What did you think about tonight’s Merlin episode?! Check out the promo for next Saturday’s “The Death Song of Uther Pendragon.”

Although we learned in the premiere episode of series 5 that Arthur and Guinevere have reigned over Camelot for three peaceful years, the death of Arthur’s father Uther still weighs heavily on the young king.

And next Saturday, Arthur will not be able to resist the chance to see his father again, as a witch promises him the power to summon back the dead:

It looks like Uther (if it indeed is his spirit) will not be happy with Arthur’s choices! He seems to be particularly targeting Gwen and Merlin (a servant and a sorcerer so close to his son, we’re not surprised!), as well as the Round Table – which of course represents a different kind of way to rule the kingdom.

As it has already been revealed by showrunner Johnny Capps that Anthony Stewart Head will indeed be reprising his role as Uther Pendragon this year on Merlin, we’re betting that we’ll see Arthur reunite with his father this year – and probably the dead king will be sowing seeds of doubt about Gwen and Merlin in Arthur’s heart. Hopefully though, Arthur is too wise to listen!

The official description for “The Death Song of Uther Pendragon” reads:

When a stranger gives Arthur the power to summon the dead, the king finds himself torn between head and heart. Unable to resist temptation, he seizes the chance to speak to the person he misses most – his father, Uther Pendragon (Anthony Head). But the spirit world is a dark and dangerous place, for little does Arthur realise that his decision comes at a terrible price. Against all odds, Merlin must put right Arthur’s mistake before Camelot, and everything they have built, is destroyed forever.

The third episode of Merlin‘s fifth series will air next Saturday at 20:25 on BBC One.
