The Merlin actors are making their rounds in interviews today to discuss the final stretch of episodes. Read what Colin Morgan, Bradley James and Katie McGrath have to say about the show’s impending end.

Speaking to GamerHub, the actors revealed that they were not surprised by the announcement that this was the final year of the series, as there has always been a five-year plan in place.

And Katie McGrath expresses the belief that the series ends where it should, saying, “It’s important when you’re telling any story that if you have the option to tell the end that you should, and I think its nice to put a full stop after five years and to be able to tell the beginning and tell the ending as well.”

She also echoes the sentiment expressed by both James and Morgan in previous interviews that there isn’t really a story left to tell in a movie version – which of course sends our brains into overdrive trying to imagine why not!

The trio also spoke to an Icelandic radio channel, where McGrath goes into more detail about why this is the perfect time to end Merlin. “They planned out the stories, the character arcs all based on five series,” she explains, “and I think we all feel very lucky that we got to play our characters from the start, and we got the opportunity to carry it right through to season five.”

And boldly, McGrath proclaims that, “You will have your… all your questions will be answered.”

However, Colin Morgan had some more sad news for fans hoping for a movie. When asked if there could be one, he gives a very frank “no,” saying, “I do not see there being a movie of Merlin, certainly not with the cast of the TV show.” And while “possibly, it could go onwards, I don’t see there being a future.” He also adds, rather ominously, “I think fans are gonna be really really sad despite what the series has to offer.”

Are you sad that Merlin is ending? We sure are! Which is why we are doing…
