Fear not, fellow Merlin fans! We will soon have Katie McGrath on our television sets again, as she has been cast as a series regular as Lucy Westenra in NBC’s Dracula.

TV Line has this description of her character:

McGrath will play Lucy Westenra, Aristocratic London’s sexy, social butterfly who has a penchant for gossip, flirting and all things glamorous. A best friend to Dracula’s muse, Mina Murray (Arrow’s Jessica De Gouw), Lucy gradually becomes entwined in a web of lies, lust and temptation that challenges the boundaries of their relationship.

According to NBC’s site, Dracula, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the title character, follows the vampire in London in the nineteenth century as he seeks revenge on the people who have betrayed him while pretending to be an American entrepreneur keen to bring modern science to Victorian society.

I’ve been keeping an eye on this show since I heard of its development, and I am really excited! It’s really great to hear about another Merlin cast member being cast in another project, and this looks like an interesting step away from Merlin for Katie McGrath!

(Editor’s note: This is actually the second time McGrath will work with Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The Tudors fans, you know what we’re talking about! It will be great to see these two actors reunite in such a different context.)
