Former Merlin actor Alexander Vlahos has a couple of new Kickstarter projects which he’s asking fans to check out!

Since starring as Mordred in Merlin‘s final season, Alexander Vlahos has been a busy man, starring in the BBC miniseries Privates and returning to record a second season of the popular radio play Dorian Gray.

But the actor is also using Kickstarter to fund a few new projects, which fans of his work might want to check out!

Gardening: For the Unfulfilled and Alienated is a play written by Brad Birch which will hopefully premiere at Undeb Theatre’s Edinburgh Festival in August.

“A man struggling under the weight of the modern world finds a self-help book that inspires into gardening,” the description states. “And he’s good at it. Really good. But there’s a dark and violent secret to his success.”

The Kickstarter campaign is hoping to fund the team and actors’ wages and transportation, and actually get the shed which serves as the focal point of the production.

Vlahos serves as the artistic director for Gardening, and Hannah Bannister will direct the play.

And for anyone interested in backing, there are some great Merlin-related incentives! The grand prize for the first person to pledge £1500 is the original Knights of Camelot cloak Mordred wore on the show.

The second project is a music video for Chris Hyson’s song “Button Eyes,” off his jazz album “Little Moon Man.”

The video is set in Whitstable, and Vlahos will star in the video as, “a swaggering young outsider” whose world is turned upside down when he meets a mysterious blonde.

As for why they need to go through Kickstarter, Wolfheart Productions writes, “Normally music videos cost tens or even hundreds of thousands to produce. We won’t have room for luxury as everything is being done as efficiently as possible – whilst still making sure we can deliver something of high quality and get Chris’s lovely music the audience it deserves.”

If you pledge £300 or more, you will be able to join the team in Whitstable as an extra or a crew member.

If you are interested in backing either of these projects, you can find them both on Kickstarter using the links above.
