The episode description for an upcoming Merlin episode has been revealed. It seems like Morgana is close to discovering the identity of the man prophesied to bring about her downfall: Emrys.
The BBC has released the episode description for 5×10 (which doesn’t yet have a title), and it seems like with only three episodes left of the series, Merlin will face a very immediate threat to his life:
Morgana leads a terrifying manhunt in pursuit her old foe Alator of the Catha (Gary Lewis), for she knows without doubt that he can tell her exactly where to find Emrys.
Merlin’s life has never been in more danger, so when the mysterious Finna (Sorcha Cusack) offers to help him, is he right to trust her? Or will he find himself cornered with nowhere to run?
Colin Morgan is Merlin, Bradley James is Arthur, Angel Coulby is Gwen, Katie McGrath is Morgana, Richard Wilson is Gaius and John Hurt is the voice of the Great Dragon. Tom Hopper, Rupert Young, and Eoin Macken return as The Knights of the Round Table.
Earlier in the show’s run, Morgana was informed that the sorcerer who would be her doom would be the mysterious and powerful Emrys, but at this point, she still doesn’t know that it is really Merlin – or even that Merlin has magic at all! Although with Mordred being a ticking time bomb of betrayal, we can’t help but wonder if she’ll find out very soon. Maybe even in this episode.
It is also interesting that in this episode, it seems like Merlin is out to protect his own life for once, and not Arthur’s. Merlin will have been off to see the Druids in episode 5×08, although 5×09 sees him back at Camelot where he’ll make a desperate attempt to free Gwen from Morgana’s hold. Gwen isn’t mentioned in this episode – do you think Merlin managed to bring her back, or will she maybe have joined Morgana more permanently?
