According to Variety, Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone will soon be spearheading a brand new comedy series coming down the pipeline at Netflix.

The upcoming comedy series marks the second project The Hollywood couple have in the works at Netflix. As we reported just last year, the duo are also working on the superhero flick, Thunder Force starring McCarthy and Octavia Spencer.

McCarthy and Falcone’s latest endeavor is called God’s Favorite Idiot, and has already been given a 16 episode order by Netflix.

The series focuses on a mid level tech support employee named Clark Thompson who finds love with a co-workeer named Amily Luck. Unfortunately, sparks start flying between the two just as Clark finds himself becoming God’s messenger. There’s also the matter of an impending apocalypse on the horizon to make matters even worse.

Both McCarthy and Falcone will star in God’s Favorite Idiot with Falcone taking on the role of Clark and McCarthy set to play Amily. In addition, Falcone serves as writer on the series, while both he and McCarthy will act as executive producers on the project through their On the Day production company.

Falcone and McCarthy, who are married in real life, are no strangers to collaborating together. In fact, they’ve teamed up on quite a few of McCarthy’s biggest blockbuster hits including Bridesmaids, Tammy, and Life of the Party.

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect to see God’s Favorite Idiot to debut via Netflix.
