Melissa Marr recently talked about the journey she has been on both writing Wicked Lovely and having it optioned.

Melissa Marr always knew she wanted to be a writer but didn’t start pursuing it until she was in her thirties. In 2004 Melissa wrote a short story that lingered with her and eventually became Wicked Lovely .  Now that novel is on a new adventure that of becoming a feature film.

From FearNet:

“The weirdest part was probably the initial call,” Melissa said. “My agent said, ‘Vince Vaughn wants to buy your book.’ My response was ‘Who?’ and ‘Doesn’t he have a nearby store?’ As I rarely watch movies, I had no idea who he was. The most awkward part was that I had to tell Vince himself I didn’t know who he was, but he’s so absurdly charming and smart, that we ended up having a great conversation.” [MORE]

Currently the film is not with a studio but has a script written by Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands) and a director, Mary Harron (American Psycho).
