Justin, Travis, and Griffin McElroy, the three brothers behind the hit podcast My Brother, My Brother, and Me are actually going to be in Trolls 2.

The McElroy brothers have a hit podcast, My Brother, My Brother, and Me (and a subsequent Seeso TV show of the same name), a wildly popular RPG podcast The Adventure Zone, a New York Times best-selling graphic novel based on The Adventure Zone, and approximately seven thousand other podcasts and projects between the three of them. Now, it seems they are headed to the silver screen with roles in Trolls 2, officially titled Trolls World Tour.

After watching Trolls for the umpteenth with his daughter and seeing all of the YouTube stars with cameos in the movie, Justin McElroy chatted with his brothers Travis and Griffin about the possibility of them landing cameos in Trolls 2. Fueled by the unique brand of inspiration that only comes after indulging in some edibles, the brothers embarked on a new podcast effort, The McElroy Brothers Will Be In Trolls 2. It was a goofy (but kind of serious) podcast that would chronicle their efforts to land parts in the film.

Though the brothers had what seemed to be a disastrous first meeting with Dreamworks after middle brother, Travis McElroy, arrived very late and wore a shirt with the word “piss” on it, the McElroys managed to secure parts in the movie. We don’t yet know who is playing who, but we do know they have been offered the parts of Techno Beat Drop Button, Country Music Tear, and Hard Rock Tear (as in tears you cry).

The brothers first broke the news with a story in Vanity Fair and the release of the sixth episode of their Trolls 2 podcast, and are now working to publicize their newly secured roles to make sure they aren’t cut from the final film. After all, they worked hard to get these parts, so as Justin McElroy jokingly told Vanity Fair, “If we are cut from the film, we need a fucking riot. It needs to be the biggest deal on Earth if we were removed from the movie.”

It’s been a hilarious ride to watch the brothers (with the assistance of their long-suffering agent Joel Begleiter) secure roles in this film, and we’re excited to see them dazzle the silver screen as a techno beat-dropping button and hard rock and country music-loving tears.

So while we don’t know what the future holds for the McElroys (or if their parts will wind up in the final film), we couldn’t be more happy about this particular casting announcement. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more news about this movie. Trolls World Tour is currently slated to release in 2020.
