Giancarlo Esposito, former Breaking Bad star, has been cast as Jorge in the Maze Runner sequel The Scorch Trials.

News released at the Hollywood Reporter informs us of the latest casting announcement. The actor joins Fox’s young adult franchise to stand as the leader of the Cranks, which are described as a group of lone survivors cursed with an incurable disease.

The Breaking Bad alum played a notorious villain on the hit TV series and his acting presence is sure to bring some gravitas to the role.

His impressive acting credentials don’t end there. The seasoned actor has also starred in the popular TV series Revolution, Once Upon A Time, and he has recently joined Disney’s live-action animation hybrid Jungle Book.

This is the fourth, and most likely the last, major casting announcement for the Scorch Trials film. We have previously learned that Rosa Salazar is portraying the close friend of Jorge, Brenda. Aidan Gillen will be taking on the role of Rat-Man, and Jacob Lofland has been cast as Aris.

Filming for the movie is set to take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico and surrounding locations starting October 27.

The Maze Runner Chapter II: The Scorch Trials is set for release September 18, 2015.
