The Motion Picture Association of America has given The Maze Runner a PG-13 rating.

The trade association issued the rating for these reasons:

Rated PG-13: For thematic elements and intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, including some disturbing images.

This description is an understanding conclusion considering the intensity of the book from with it originates.

The Maze Runner seems to be taking a similar path as many of the other young adult franchises hitting the box office recently. The later Harry Potter films, Hunger Games, and Divergent all found themselves with PG-13 ratings. These films toe the line between childhood and adulthood in a way that broadens the audience to others outside a narrow target.

Also released this week were new stills from the movie.

In the first image Dylan O’Brien and director Wes Ball are seen talking together on the Glade set.

The location of the second image is harder to pinpoint, but O’Brien sits crouched in a small wooden enclosure. Therefore, the best guess for his location would be The Shack.

These aren’t the only photos released recently. The Maze Runner media team have been continuing to release a multitude of different promotional cards on various social media sites. On Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr you can find a wide variety of different images.

We suggest you follow each site individually though, because not all images are identical across the board.

Some include the promotional text for the film:
