Mayim Bialik has shared a few behind-the-scenes thoughts from the start of production on The Big Bang Theory season 9.

Writing on her blog at Kveller.com, Bialik (Amy Farrah Fowler) reflects that she was excited to return to the CBS comedy after a summer spent focused on her family.

“I missed being at work this summer,” she writes. “I like my castmates, and we are accustomed to spending a lot of time together. Sure, we get together here and there on hiatus, but we have busy lives.”

Bialik also reveals that celebrities use social media for the same reasons the rest of us do. “I am grateful for Instagram because I got to follow everyone’s adventures all summer that way,” she admits.

Bialik reveals a few hints about the premiere episode of The Big Bang Theory season 9, which she promises will answer a few — though not all — of fans’ most pressing questions.

“Season 9 picks up literally less than 24 hours after season 8 ended,” she says. “So we will deal with everything you saw in the season finale: Leonard and Penny going to Las Vegas to get married, and Amy taking time off from Sheldon.”

But that paused relationship (made even more dramatic by Sheldon’s revealed plans to propose) won’t keep the actress or Amy away from the screen.

“I got asked a lot this summer if I am coming back to the show,” Bialik shares, answering, “Of course! Just because my character needed ‘time off’ from Sheldon doesn’t mean we are broken up, and it certainly doesn’t mean I am not coming back as a cast member.”

According to Bialik, the season premiere is “a very funny episode. It doesn’t tie everything up in a neat package; our show rarely does that.” Fans can look forward to “a lot of group scenes, and some really good one-on-one scenes as well.” And Kevin Sussman (Stuart) returns “with some lines that are making me crack up in rehearsal already,” Bialik admits. “It’s a great season opener.”

Until the premiere rolls around, Bialik says, “We all have a lot of catching up to do off-camera. And on-camera, we are all so excited to bring you season 9.”

The Big Bang Theory season 9 begins on Monday, Sept. 21 on CBS.
