In an impressive and surprising turn of events, X-Men First Class and Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn has secured the rights to a currently unpublished novel!

Lexicon, written by Max Barry is billed as a thriller and not set to be published until early next year. The director received the only advanced copy and responded by purchasing the movie rights with his own personal money. The book will tell the story of a woman living in a contemporary world where words are weapons, who breaks the rules of her secret organisation by falling in love.

Vaughn definitely looks like a busy man. Not only is he working on a fast-tracked First Class sequel with Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence and the phenomenal Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, he is also set to produce a sequel to cult-favourite Kick-Ass. While the film is not yet official in any manner, the fact that such a successful director bought the rights personally suggests it could well be a hot property.
