Matthew Broderick is making his way to Netflix.

According to Deadline, actor Matthew Broderick has joined the cast of Netflix’s upcoming post-apocalyptic series Daybreak.

The new dramedy is based off of Brian Ralph’s graphic novel of the same name. The series, which has been given a 10-episode order by the online streaming giant, was co-created by Aron Eli Coleite and Brad Peyton. The creators will also be serving as showrunner and director on the new series, respectively.

Daybreak focuses on a 17-year-old high school outcast named Josh who sets out in search of his missing girlfriend named Sam in post-apocalyptic Glendale, California.

Josh won’t be heading out on his quest alone. He’ll also be joined by a group of misfits, which include 12-year-old pyromaniac Angelica and his former high school bully Wesley who has turned over a new leaf and now considers himself a pacifist samurai.

Together, they’ll have to figure out how to stay alive and survive against the perils of post-apocalyptic life.

Broderick will be playing Principal Burr, the cheerful, upbeat head of Glendale High.

“Burr is genuinely trying to be part of the solution: a good guy, an advocate and an ally for all,” reads the description for the character. “But let’s face it, kids can be monsters.”

There’s currently no word on when Daybreak will premiere on Netflix. In the meantime, Broderick fans will soon be able to catch the actor on ABC’s Roseanne spinoff, The Conners.

The Ferris Bueller’s Day Off star will be joining the cast as a love interest for Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) and will be introduced in this year’s Halloween episode, premiering on October 30.
