The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special will be out later this year. Matt Strevens, best known for his work on Misfits, is now joining the creative team.

As we reported earlier this year, An Adventure in Space and Time is being penned by Mark Gatiss. It will tell the story of how Doctor Who ever made it onto the U.K. telly to begin with through it’s transformation into the iconic, longest running sci-fi series ever.
In describing the series Mark Gatiss,said:
This is the story of how an unlikely set of brilliant people created a true Television original. And how an actor – William Hartnell – stereotyped in hard-man roles became a hero to millions of children. I’ve wanted to tell this story this for more years than I can remember! To make it happen for ‘Doctor Who’s’ 50th birthday is quite simply a dream come true.
