Matt Smith, like his predecessors in the role of The Doctor, is multi-talented. He now brings his love of poetry to the level of performance art in the hopes of inspiring a new generation.

According to the BBC, Matt Smith and several other key U.K. actors such as Richard Briers (who played  Chief Caretaker / Kroagnon back in the Sylvester McCoy years), David Walliams (who played a mole in Doctor Who last season) and Michelle Dockery will be taking part in a Disney TV show aimed at introducing poetry to young audiences.

Smith is a poetry buff who remarked

It is so vital to my art to have an understanding and appreciation for classic literature. [This project allows] a whole new generation of young minds a way of learning and sharing poetry…The fact that it’s set to some of the most iconic Disney animations just makes the whole experience so enjoyable.

What do you think of Smith and others bringing poetry in this manner to a new generation?
