Sanditon season 2 is gearing up to welcome some newcomers, in addition to some returning favorites to its cast.

Masterpiece on PBS had some good news to deliver to fans of Sanditon this week.

In a press release sent out on Thursday (July 22) the studio announced that actors Anne Reid (Lady Denham), Kris Marshall (Tom Parker), Kate Ashfield (Mary Parker), Crystal Clarke (Georgiana Lambe), Jack Fox (Edward Denham), Charlotte Spencer (Esther Denham), Lily Sacofsky (Clara Brereton), Turlough Convery (Arthur Parker), Kevin Eldon (Mr. Hankins), and Adrian Scarborough (Dr. Fuchs) have all signed on to return to reprise their roles for Sanditon season 2.

The aforementioned stars join actress Rose Williams, who was confirmed to be returning to reprise her role as Charlotte Heywood back in May following the shocking news that Theo James would not be returning to reprise his role as Sidney Parker for Sanditon season 2.

In addition to confirming the return of a slew of season 1 cast members, Masterpiece on PBS also revealed via Twitter that actors Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Tom Weston-Jones, and Rosie Graham, have also signed on to appear in Sanditon season 2 in some pivotal roles.

First up, Lloyd-Hughes and Weston-Jones will take on the roles of Alexander Colbourne and Colonel Francis Lennox— both of whom will be vying for Charlotte’s affections. While Alexander is described as a “mysterious resident with a complex family history,” Colonel Lennox is a self-assured war hero, who couldn’t be more different from his rival.

Meanwhile, Graham will take on the role of Charlotte’s spirited younger sister, Alison, who comes to Sanditon in search of her own romance. She might just find it with the handsome and charming Captain William Carter (Maxim Ays).

Other newcomers joining the cast of Sanditon season 2 include Frank Blake (Captain Delcan Fraser), and Alexander Vlahos (Charles Lockhart).

The second season of the Jane Austen adaptation picks back up with Charlotte nine months after the events of the first season, and finds her returning to the beautiful titular seaside resort.

Production on Sanditon season 2 is happening now, though there’s still no word on when we might expect to see the series return to Masterpiece on PBS.
