What Master Chief’s face looks like under his helmet has been a big question plaguing gamers’ minds since the first Halo series game. Now, we’re finally getting some answers.

On a Twitter thread in which he answered fans’ questions about his time working on the Halo series, former Bungie creative director Marcus Lehto spoke of the “brutal” look of Master Chief’s face.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like we’re going to see that sketch of Master Chief’s face anytime soon. When asked by another fan if the sketch would be revealed, Lehto had the following to say.

Time to break into the Bungie vaults, then.

At that, we can imagine that it’d be pretty tough to not reveal a closer look at Master Chief’s face in the upcoming Halo TV show. Right? In April 2019, the Halo TV series announced that Pablo Schreiber will take on the role of Master Chief. So now, at least for the television adaptation, we know what his face looks like.

For now, we’ll have to settle on the quick look we get of Master Chief’s face when his helmet is removed at the end of the Halo 4 Legendary mode.

The Halo TV show is set to premiere on Showtime sometime in 2019, and is being billed as an “epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant” with “deeply drawn personal stories.”
