The first teaser for Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is here and it’s bound to get you pumped to check out the movie come September.

Marvel Studios kicked off the week by releasing a brand new poster and teaser trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in celebration of star Simu Liu’s birthday.

Liu himself, who plays the titular Marvel superhero, got in on the fun by debuting a new character poster for the film via his socials.

“Whoever said that you could only RECEIVE presents on your birthday? Today, I’m giving you your VERY FIRST LOOK at the teaser poster for @ShangChi and the legend of the Ten Rings!!” Tweeted Simu Liu on Monday (April 19). “Coming to theaters September 3rd (trailer drops in a few weeks). WE’RE ALMOST THERE PEOPLE!”

Fans may have to wait a few weeks for the first full length trailer to drop, but luckily Marvel didn’t leave us all hanging. In addition, the studio dropped a brand new teaser trailer for the film just a couple of hours after Liu debuted the new teaser poster for the movie.

The teaser, which you can watch below, offers up a fantastic first look of Shang-Chi’s origin story, in addition to drumming up excitement for the task that lies ahead for the titular hero.

Others who star opposite Liu in the Marvel movie include Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng.

Behind the camera, the film is helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton and produced by Kevin Feige and Jonathan Schwartz, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Charles Newirth serving as executive producers. David Callaham & Destin Daniel Cretton & Andrew Lanham wrote the screenplay for the film.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hits theaters on September 3, 2021.
