Don’t expect to see the Inhumans on the big screen in the foreseeable future.

Disney and Marvel pulled Inhumans from their upcoming MCU slate on Friday evening. It had been previously set for an opening on July 12, 2019, with a script by Black Panther writer Joe Robert Cole.

Things started looking bad for Inhumans when Disney dated Indiana Jones 5 for July 19, 2019, which is just one week after the Marvel movie was set to be released. It would’ve been crazy for the studio to put two major films back-to-back, so at that point many assumed Inhumans was doomed from opening that month.

It’s important to note that the film is not canceled. At least, not yet. Marvel may decide to move forward with it at a later date.

The Inhumans were first introduced to non-comic readers through Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the ABC drama currently features the characters prominently. They made their comic debut in an issue of The Fantastic Four.

It’ll be interesting to see if Marvel adds another superhero movie to their summer slate. Maybe a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming? The studio currently has Avengers: Infinity War, Part 2 scheduled for May of that year, while DC will unveil Justice League, Part 2 in June. No other superhero movies are currently due out that summer.
