Ethan Hawke is gearing up to join the Marvel family. The actor has joined the cast of Moon Knight over at Disney+.

According to Variety, Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke has officially joined the cast of the upcoming Moon Knight series coming down the pipeline at Disney+

Hawke’s involvement with the upomcing Marvel series is the second casting announcement we’ve heard regarding the show this week.

It comes hot on the heels of Wednesday’s news that aRmy star May Calamawy had also joined the cast of the series.

As with Calamawy’s role, details surrounding the character Hawke will take on for the comic book series are being kept close to the chest for now. That being said, it’s being reported that Hawke will be assuming the role of the main villain.

If the rumors prove to be true, he’ll find himself squaring off against Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker star Oscar Isaac, who has already signed on to play the titular character.

Isaac’s involvement with the Moon Knight was first announced back in October 2020 when news broke of Marvel and Disney’s plan to create a series centered around the titular character.

Created by Dough Munch and Don Perlin, Moon Knight is a mercenary who also happens to be a millionaire entrepreneur. Like DC’s Batman, he uses his expendable income to beef up his arsenal in an effort to fight crime.

The character isn’t just a vigilante though. In addition to using brawn and brains to fight criminals, he’s also got a few superpowers including increased strength, speed, and endurance, all of which are affected by the lunar cycle.

He acquires his powers during an archeological dig gone awry, which leaves him near death. It’s then that he’s approached by the Egyptian moon god, Khonshu, who offers up another shot at life. The catch is that Spector must now become Khonshu’s human avatar on Earth.

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect the
Moon Knight series starring Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, and May Calamawy to debut via Disney+.
