Marvel has been edging its way onto our TVs as their Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. just got picked up for a full season. Now it’s being reported that Marvel has four new TV shows in production which could be seen on cable or on-demand networks like Netflix and Amazon.

Marvel is dominating the movie market with its popular superhero films, as Thor: The Dark World hits theaters in early November.

Now it seems they plan to dominate our TV experience at home with four new TV shows and a miniseries.

Deadline is reporting that the “notorious secrecy that surrounds Marvel’s projects has been heightened to the nth degree” for the reportedly 60 episodes they have planned for cable TV and streaming services.

It seems Marvel has been quietly discussing some new TV series with networks, as well as Netflix and Amazon.

Bound by a strict non disclosure, Marvel has been “quietly putting together a package of four drama series and a miniseries – a total of some 60 episode – that would be taken out to the VOD and cable space, with Netflix, Amazon and WGN America as potential candidates.”

These shows are in very early development and it seems Marvel is simply “sending out feelers” to cable networks and video-on-demand companies which may be interested in picking up their multiple new shows. Streaming services are also being eyed as well.

As we reported a few weeks back, Agent Carter, starring Hayley Atwell, will most likely be one of these shows being shopped around – or could be the miniseries that is being mentioned.

Agent Carter got its spark after a short was released on the Iron Man 3 DVD/Blu-ray, which featured Peggy Carter taking care of some SHIELD business back in the 1940s.

It would certainly be a massive undertaking to put out an order for 60 episodes from four or more TV shows, but after Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was picked up for a full season, they may finally feel comfortable with their ability to move into the world of weekly home media.

It’s obvious that Marvel has realized that their brand, which has exploded onto the film world, can successfully bleed over into the world of television. We look forward to finding out what characters and shows they have in development.
