These days, it’s easy to engage with books thanks to the popularity of audiobooks, and Marvel is about to bring that to comic book readers.

Whether you have a long commute to work, you’re going on a road trip, or you’re working out, listening to an audiobook has become a great way to pass that time while finally knocking some titles off of your ever-growing “to be read” list. But the world of the audiobook had, until now, eluded comic book readers. Marvel is setting out to change that.

Marvel has announced that it will be teaming up with Dreamscape Media to turn a handful of titles into, as Variety calls them, “read-to-me style audiobooks.” These titles are set to go on sale in September, and will also be available at that time on the free library lending app Hoopla.

As Variety explains, there will be a pretty impressive lineup of titles in this Marvel/Dreamscape team up. The Ultimate Spider-Man, The Ultimate X-Men, X-Men: Codename Wolverine, and Daredevil: The Man Without Fear are all set to be a part of this agreement as well as forthcoming titles from David Michelinie, Tony Isabella, Len Wein, Marv Wolfman, and Peter David.

Additionally, there are several titles coming that haven’t been widely distributed before this, but we don’t yet know what those titles are. It’s an exciting new endeavor for Marvel and comic books as a whole, and can hopefully bring in a whole new swath of readers to the Marvel comics universe.

In addition to the availability on Hoopla (a service which lets you read the titles for free, provided your local library has teamed up with the app), these exciting new audiobooks will be available through Amazon, Audible, iBooks, Google, Overdrive, and other major audiobook distribution channels, so regardless of which service is your fave, you should be able to snag your favorite title when they release this September.
