The team behind Marvel Animation took to the stage at San Diego Comic-Con to talk about what’s next for Avengers and Spider-Man, and premiered the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy series.

After a few loops of the intro to “Hooked on a Feeling,” Cort Lane (Vice President), Eric Radomski (Executive Producer) and Stephen Wacker (Vice President) came out to tell us all about what is coming up on Avengers: Ultron Revolution, Ultimate Spider-Man vs. The Sinister Six and Guardians of the Galaxy. Everyone in the audience was also fortunate enough to watch the premiere of the Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon — and the usual S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were out in force to ensure it remained a Comic-Con exclusive.

‘Avengers: Ultron Revolution’

Avengers Assemble still has a fair amount of its second season left to air before moving into Ultron Revolution. Before Avengers Assemble wraps, and we get our title change, we’ll see the return of the Squadron Supreme — and there’ll be a huge showdown with Thanos to close out the season.

As for Ultron Revolution itself, it is going to be jam-packed with new and returning characters. Of note were Ant-Man (in his movie costume), Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers), Vision, The Inhumans and, most excitingly, Kamala Khan. The latter got the biggest cheer in the room, and we’re excited to see Kamala make her small screen debut — hopefully this bodes well for other Marvel properties.

They showed a clip for the newest season, which highlighted Iron Man, Hawkeye and Black Widow battling against Kang’s robots from the future — but also teased a Civil War event. Yes, Civil War is also coming to Marvel Animation in 2016.

‘Ultimate Spider-Man vs. The Sinister Six’

Ultimate Spider-Man season 3 is going to conclude with a four-part “Contest of Champions” arc. We got to see a sneak-peek of what to expect when it hits our screens, and we’ll admit… we weren’t ever expecting to see the Hulk go up against Kraven the Hunter, but we loved the escalating battle. The Collector and his brother the Grand Master have orchestrated the entire fight, which also sees Iron Man and Spider-Man go up against Molten Man and Wendigo.

A pretty epic way to close out the series, if we do say so ourselves.

Ultimate Spider-Man vs. The Sinister Six, coming in 2016, will see the Web Warriors come together to stop Doc Ock, as the super villain gathers together Spider-Man’s most fearsome foes, in order to take him out once and for all. Yes, this means we will be seeing both Miles Morales and Amadeus Cho fighting alongside Peter Parker — and we couldn’t be happier.

But that’s not all. Fans of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will see some familiar (but more animated) faces, when Spider-Man returns for season 4 — making it Marvel’s longest running animated series ever. Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain de Caestecker will be appearing as their S.H.I.E.L.D. characters, FitzSimmons, on the show. Not only that, but Mark Hamill will reprise his role as Arnim Zola.

Talk about a star-studded season!

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was a runaway success when it came to theaters, so it wasn’t surprising when they announced they would be bringing the characters to the small screen too.

The series will premiere on September 26, in a two-part special event, with a tease due to be released on September 5. They will also be releasing 10 two-minute shorts, highlighting and introducing each of the characters leading up to the premiere.

We were lucky enough to see the first episode in the two-part special during the panel. We won’t spoil the particulars here, but will say that it truly captured the humor and spirit of the movie. From the music, locations, and character dynamics, we were fully immersed back into the Guardians’ world, coupled with some of the most visually stunning animation we’ve seen out of the studios to boot. You definitely won’t want to miss this when it airs!

The panel closed out with some audience questions, which took an interesting turn when a tiny Ms. Marvel named Marley took to the microphone to ask her question. The panelists were so taken with her that they invited her to the stage to field the questions alongside them.

She was, undoubtedly, the superstar of the panel.

Will you be checking out any of the new Marvel animated series when they air?
