Mark Gatiss and his team are busy filming the story of how Doctor Who came to be back in 1963, entitled An Adventure in Space and Time. Today’s adventures involve Daleks and Westminster Bridge.

One of the very first Doctor Who episodes featured the Doctor encountering a Dalek invasion of earth. Where would such an invasion be centralized given that the show was British? The answer is of course the seat of government. The “invasion” happened right in front of the parliament building on the Westminster Bridge.

Mark Gatiss and his team set out to recreate the exact circumstances of the original shoot.

An Adventure in Space and Time has a British all-star cast including Jessica Raine, Brian Cox, Leslie Manville, and David Bradley among others. A photo (below) of Bradley and Manville as William Hartnel, the first Doctor, and his wife Heather Hartnell has just been released.

In speaking with The Radio Times, Bradley stated, “It’s quite simply a dream come true… it’s the story of how an unlikely set of brilliant people created a true television original”.

Below are images of the original Dalek Invasion episode and the recreation that was shot in the same location just this very morning.
