Grab some eggnog and get ready for a bit of holiday cheer from Mariah Carey, Jimmy Fallon and the Roots.

With classroom instruments, holiday sweaters and cute kids as background vocalists, Carey, Fallon and his house band took on one of the most popular Christmas songs around, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Tuesday.

Fallon kicks it off with his attempts at Mariah runs before the songstress herself joins in wearing a daring red dress.

Fallon has previously enlisted Carly Rae Jepsen for a classroom instrument rendition of “Call Me Maybe.” Last month, Christina Aguilera performed an office instrument version of her new single “Your Body” with Jimmy and the Roots. Apparently a more adult song requires more adult instruments?

Mariah Carey joins the American Idol judging panel, along with Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson and Keith Urban, when Fox’s singing competition returns for its 12th season in January.

Late Night With Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 12:35 a.m. ET on NBC. Tracy Morgan, Richard Lewis and Tyler Florence will make appearances tonight. The Hobbit‘s Elijah Wood and Modern Family‘s Jesse Tyler Ferguson will be guests on Friday’s show.

What did you think of this version of the song? How does it compare to the Justin Bieber version?
