New American Idol judge Mariah Carey is reuniting with Precious director Lee Daniels for the upcoming star-studded biopic, The Butler.

As Black Film reports, Carey’s role in the film is yet unknown but she will be joining Alan Rickman, Oprah Winfrey, Alex Pettyfer, Forest Whitaker, Robin Williams, John Cusack, Jane Fonda, Vanessa Redgrave, Cuba Gooding Jr., Lenny Kravitz and more.

Based on a Washington Post feature on Eugene Allen (Cecil Gaines in the movie)  – a black White House butler who served eight First Families in 34 years, The Butler is filming in New Orleans.

Carey’s other film credits include roles in 2001’s Glitter and 2009’s critically acclaimed Precious. As for her music, Carey is working on a new album with its first single – “Triumphant (Get ‘Em)” – out in August.
