Fantastic Four was a massive flop, both critically and financially, and it looks like Suicide Squad actress Margot Robbie almost got cast in the role of Sue Storm, which would later go to Kate Mara.

In a new interview with the Daily News, Margot Robbie talks about auditioning for Fantastic Four. She said the script was one of the reasons it didn’t seem like the right project.

Robbie told the Daily News, “I didn’t really resonate with the script, and I haven’t seen the movie, so I don’t really know how it turned out different from the page. But I had a great meeting with the director and I really enjoyed that. I guess it’s part of the game: sometimes you win some, sometimes you lose some.”

We imagine she’s pretty happy she didn’t get the Fantastic Four role now, considering Suicide Squad looks amazing, and Fantastic Four went down in flames. She later talked about her experience with Jared Leto as The Joker.

Margot says, “What he’s doing with the character is so cool. At first it was kind of confronting [to be up close], but now I’m so used to it, I think if I ever saw him out of makeup now I would be really confused. Actually, I saw him out of makeup once and I was actually petrified of him. I was too scared to go up and didn’t know who that person was, and when he got back into his makeup I was far more comfortable.”

She continued, “The one common denominator is we’re all bad guys, it just makes everything more fun that way. The scenes are more interesting I feel, when you just don’t know how the characters are going to react, especially with Harley, who’s absolutely nuts… she’s either going to kill you or laugh and give you a hug.”

It’s interesting to find out that the actress was going to be in Fantastic Four because she actually seems like she would have been a great Sue Storm. Then again, she appears to be literally a perfect Harley Quinn.

While we’d hoped Fantastic Four would do well, we’re glad to see Robbie doing great work on Suicide Squad. She seems to really have enjoyed working with the cast of Suicide Squad, which is stellar.

Suicide Squad is helmed by David Ayer. We look forward to seeing this amazing ensemble, under David Ayer’s incredible guidance. Hopefully it gives new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero.

Suicide Squad recently wrapped in Canada, and we look forward to hearing more about this massively talented cast of super villains. The film will be released on August 5, 2016.
