Appearing on a recent edition of Huffington Post Live, former Double Dare host Marc Summers revealed he’s ready to do a new version of Double Dare, but Nick isn’t.

Summers’ idea for a Double Dare reboot is to create a college version of the show. “Think about it,” he told the HuffPo interviewer and a caller who prompted the comments, “the people who grew up on our show are now in their 30s and 40s with kids, so you could do second generation.”

Unfortunately, Nickelodeon hasn’t been interested in speaking with him. “Here’s the deal. I would love to do some form or fashion of it. Let’s just say that right now … the people who run the Nickelodeon network and I don’t necessarily see eye to eye. I’ve been trying to make nice to those people, but they refuse to talk to me.”

Summers blames his age as the reason why Nick doesn’t want to speak with him. “I think they think I’m way too old to do it. I still have the energy and I think I could, so I’m putting a call out to the folks at Nick: return the phone calls, have a discussion.”

We think that Summers should launch a Kickstarter for a new version of Double Dare with a different name. We think that young adults would contribute to the show (web series?) in a heart beat, especially if they had the chance to be a contestant.

Would you watch more ‘Double Dare,’ or has its time passed?

Summers currently appears on the Food Network.
