Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer has revealed more details concerning the future of the Justice League and how Superman may have even been helped by unnamed superheroes in the Superman reboot.

Bleeding Cool caught up with Goyer recently and he admitted that he and director Zack Snyder definitely considered the DC universe when putting Man of Steel together. If you’re unfamiliar with Goyer’s work, you’re probably just unaware that he was a part of the writing team which brought us The Dark Knight trilogy with director Christopher Nolan.

Goyer noted that the goal of Man of Steel’s story was unveiling the start of many other superheroes in the DC universe. Goyer said that it “is our intention that, in success, [Man of Steel] would be the zero issue and from this point onward, possible films could expand into a shared universe. In our world, the Man of Steel world, Zack [Snyder] has gone on record saying that we’re implying there are other superheroes in this world. But I don’t know that they’ve come forward yet. The idea is that Superman is the first [superhero] one. There might be people helping people, but not in costumes, and that Superman comes forward and announces himself to the world. In him announcing himself, he’s the one that changes things.”

It appears as though Goyer wants us to believe that there may be some superheroes on the down-low, in regular clothes, helping people and possibly Superman in Man of Steel, and when the interviewer asked if Superman revealing himself to the world could lead to Batman possibly putting on the cowl, Goyer said this: “Well, yes… there’s definitely… I don’t want to get too in depth. Obviously, Zack and I have had conversations… but there would be a cause and effect. That would extend to the collateral damage that happened [in Man of Steel], and to what other countries feel about the fact that Superman calls America his home. Man of Steel doesn’t exist in a vacuum.”

While we’ve heard small details about this from Goyer and Snyder recently, it’s certainly interesting to hear Goyer say that Superman definitely isn’t in a “vacuum,” and that it’s quite possible that he may have even been helped a superhero that he wasn’t even aware of during the Man of Steel story. We’ll just have to wait and see if we can catch any of these Easter eggs when Man of Steel hits theaters tomorrow.

In case you missed the news earlier this week, it was announced just after the Man of Steel world premiere that Warner Bros. plans to move on with a sequel to the film with director Zack Snyder and writer David S. Goyer. We imagine the box office success will still determine how quick of a turnaround we’ll see Man of Steel 2 in theaters, but it seems that the sequel is already in the books. There’s no doubt that WB hopes Snyder and Goyer will be able to pull together what Joss Whedon did with The Avengers, but we’re the first ones to say that it will not be an easy task.
