Actress Amy Adams brought a confident and beautiful Lois Lane interpretation to Man of Steel, in theaters today.

Speaking at the Man of Steel press junket held at Warner Bros. Studios earlier this month, Adams spoke about her history with the man in the red cape and how she drew inspiration for her character.

“I grew up watching Superman and loving the characters,” she told us and other members of the press. “I think I’ve let it be known I’ve auditioned several times. This was my third try. When I talked to Zack about this incarnation of Lois, what I loved was she was definitely still the intrepid report but somebody who was going to a part of the solution, not just part of the problem, and she was going to have more of an inner track on Clark as opposed to being on the outside.”

In Man of Steel, we watch as Lois Lane tries to discover who Clark is by interviewing several people connected to him. “I really liked that,” she said. “I thought that was a very unique idea. I loved that Zack wanted it to be this big amazing film, but also was very important to him to focus on the characters and the truth and grounding the characters in reality as much as possible in this amazing world he created.”

Adams added, “He wanted all of the characters to have a really true heart beat. We spent a lot of time talking about that.”

Later at the press conference, Adams told us that when her young daughter was on set one day she wanted to touch Henry Cavill in his costume and accidentally went straight for his butt.
