A sequel to Man of Steel, which kicked off WB and DC’s Justice League cinematic universe in 2013, is in the works.

The Wrap reports that Man of Steel 2 is now in “active development.” Superman is reportedly a “top priority,” and “getting the character right for audiences is of tantamount importance.”

One could assume that the second Man of Steel won’t be a direct sequel, per se, but a Superman solo film that fits in with the Justice League timeline. Zach Snyder directed the first Man of Steel and went on to helm Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He’s currently directing Justice League.

DC and Warner Brothers have many Justice League films teed up, including solo movies following Wonder Woman (starring Gal Gadot), Flash (Ezra Miller), Batman (Ben Affleck), and Aquaman (Jason Momoa). With that in mind, it’s no surprise that they want to do another Superman solo movie with Henry Cavill.

Next year WB will release Wonder Woman in June and the first Justice League movie in November. This past weekend they dropped Suicide Squad, which was panned by critics.
