Malese Jow from The Vampire Diaries and Titus Makin Jr. of Glee Warbler fame have been cast in the new The CW drama pilot Oxygen.

Deadline reports that Malese Jow and Titus Makin Jr. will both be joining Aimee Teegarden in Oxygen, one of the drama pilots optioned for the 2013 fall season by The CW. CW fans will remember Malese Jow from The Vampire Diaries, where she starred as Jeremy’s recurring love interest Anna, and Titus Makin Jr. is one of the more prominent members of the Dalton Academy’s Warblers on Glee.

Oxygen can best be described as this decade’s Roswell: teenage girl Emery (Teegarden) falls in love with one of the nine aliens moonlighting as high school students – but here, their extra terrestrial status is very much public knowledge, and they are attending the school as a part of a governmental effort to “integrate” the species.

Neither Jow nor Makin Jr. will be of the ET variety, however. Jow will play Julia, a girl who suffers from a terrible illness but is cured by the aliens, while Makin Jr. will play Emery’s “goofy and cute” (read: friend-zoned) best friend. The pilot is written by Meredith Averill, and will be directed by Gary Fleder.

We’ll keep you updated as more news about this series develops. While shooting a pilot is the first step to creating a new series, note that it is not a guarantee of a full-season pickup. In fact, Teegarden joined this project after The CW scrapped the original The Selection pilot last year (that pilot is now being redone with a brand new cast).

Are you looking forward to seeing another alien teen drama on television?
