The new trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is here, and it’s got Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent unleashing her wrath on Aurora’s in-laws.

Relationships with your in-laws can be tough, especially when you’re dealing with the relationship between a complex, horned fairy and a more-than-meets-the-eye, potentially super corrupt monarch. And that’s just what is happening in the new trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.

When Aurora (Dakota Fanning) tells Maleficent that she is engaged, things get pretty tense incredibly quickly. Maleficent warns Aurora that love doesn’t always end well, and when a celebratory banquet goes sour when Aurora’s future mother-in-law (Michelle Pfeiffer) calls Aurora hers (super creepy, btw) after an incredibly patronizing speech, Maleficent loses it. From there, things escalate incredibly quickly, and Maleficent once again finds herself on the run from humans who want her (and all like her) dead.

This trailer has got us so ready for this new adventure. As Aurora and Maleficent’s relationship becomes even more complicated with Aurora’s future as Queen of the Moors looms ever-closer, the infamous fairy must protect Aurora while also working to protect the magical realm and the creatures within it.

However, unlike before, our favorite fairy isn’t alone. In the final moments of the trailer, we see Maleficent plucked from the sea by another creature that looks very much like her. As it turns out, there are many just like her who are ready to stand by her side to protect her and fight by her side to keep the magical realm safe.

This movie looks like it will be an epic follow up to the original 2014 film, and we’ve got a great cast to match an exciting story. In addition to Pfeiffer joining the film, Ed Skrein and Chiwetel Ejiofor will also be joining the adventure. Additionally, Brenton Thwaites is being replaced by Harris Dickinson in the role of Prince Phillip.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will arrive in theaters everywhere on October 18.
