Making the Band is officially making a comeback.

That’s right, the rumors are true! Making the Bandis officially getting the revival treatment over at MTV.

News of the reboot comes days after Sean “Diddy” Combs took to Twitter dropping hints about the possibility of bringing Making the Band back.

Rumors quickly started swirling after Diddy replied to a tweet exchange between DJ Heat, Wale, and Seth Rogen, all of whom were really just talking about how much they wish they could rewatch old seasons of the hit music competition series on Hulu or Netflix.

Though the tweet exchange amongst the three took place back in April, Diddy himself didn’t stir the pot until just last week on July 8.

“@MTV called me about bringing it back,” said the hip-hop superstar with regards to the show. “Should I? #IWantMyMTB”

From there, the artist continued to tease hopeful fans hoping the series would make a return by participating in exchange with MTV.

“We seriously need @diddy to bring back Making the Band!!” tweeted out the network.

“Do you guys have a big enough bag?” joked the musician in return.

Lucky for fans who’ve been crossing their fingers, neither MTV or Diddy made hopefuls wait long to share the good news of the series’ revival.

Diddy returned to social media on Monday (July 15) to share a video where he officially announced the show’s return.

In addition, he released a statement where it was revealed that the series would be making its grand return to MTV in 2020.

“MTV and I are back together again,” said the rapper in a statement according to The Wrap. “Making the Band is coming back bigger, bolder and more cutting edge. MTB and MTV was the pioneer of reality TV. We’re going to bring that supernatural energy back to the format and bring the world it’s next global superstars.”

First airing in 2002, Making the Band featured Diddy serving as a host, judge, and mentor to musician hoping they’d picked to become part of the next supegroup.

The series gave rise to a slew of chart topping groups including the likes of O-Town and Danity Kane.

The 2020 iteration of the hit music reality series will use social media to find its contestants. In fact, hopefuls are already being encouraged to send in their auditions using the hashtag #MTBCasting.

The series is set to premiere sometime in 2020 on MTV.
