Hannibal‘s Mads Mikkelsen is starring in the Star Wars spin-off movie Rogue One, and it seems he’s not playing a villain this time!

Danish Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen has benefited from Hollywood’s unfortunate tendency to typecast foreign actors, as his apparent villain-esque quality has landed him roles in James Bond, Clash of the Titans, The Three Musketeers and more.

He is currently being eyed for a villain role in Marvel’s Doctor Strange, but hopefully Disney’s other venture, Star Wars: Rogue One, will allow him to flex some other acting muscles.

Speaking to the Danish publication Ekstra Bladet, Mikkelsen teases, “My character [in Rogue One] is actually not a bad guy. [It’s] a very important role, that much I can say.”

The three-month shoot for the Star Wars spin-off will take place in Iceland and England.

In Denmark, Mikkelsen was once the go-to romantic lead, praised by critics and fans alike for his performances in such films as Blinkende Lygter, De Grønne Slagtere, and the same-sex love story En Kort en Lang.

He still occasionally headlines a Danish production, like the critically acclaimed The Hunt and the international success A Royal Affair.

Star Wars: Rogue One (which is now known as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) is directed by Gareth Edwards, with a script by Chris Weitz.

It takes place during the reign of the first Death Star, which a group of rebels set out to demolish. Rogue One also stars Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk and Forest Whitaker.

‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ hits cinemas on December 16, 2016
