Coming up next, music icon Madonna is stepping behind the camera to direct a biopic about her own life.

According to Variety, Madonna has officially signed on to direct a biopic about her own life currently in development over at Universal Pictures.

The pop star isn’t just set to serve as director on the untitled project. In addition, she’s also been heavily involved in the script writing process, which is currently being penned by Academy Award winning writer, Diablo Cody (Juno).

Though Madonna is best knowing for her decade spanning music career, the pop icon is no stranger to Hollywood or the big screen. In the past, she’s served as director on projects such as Filth and Wisdom and W.E.. In addition, the pop star has starred in titles such as Evita, Desperately Seeking Susan, and A League of Their Own.

Speaking of A League of Their Own, the pop star’s upcoming biopic is set to be produce by Amy Pascal, who last worked with Madonna on the 1992 baseball drama.

Speaking of reuniting with Madonna, this time to tell the story of her life on the big screen, Pascal said: “This movie is an absolute labor of love for me. I have known Madonna since we made A League of Their Own together, and I can’t imagine anything more thrilling than collaborating with her and Diablo on bringing her true-life story to the big screen with Donna and our partners at Universal.”

Meanwhile, Madonna chimed in with a statement of her own in which she teased her vision for the biopic.

“I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer— a human being, trying to make her way in this world,” said the singer. “The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art had kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision.”
