Made for You by Melissa Marr is a thrilling story of a girl’s horrific accident and newfound powers, and of the person who took their obsession to the extreme.

Eva Tilling’s tragedy takes place within the first few chapters of the novel. She’s hit by a car and wakes up in the hospital covered in scars and bruises. The once popular girl of Jessup, North Carolina now only wants to hide her face in shame. But when she finds out her accident was no accident, and that she may have a way to stop the killing spree that almost started with her own death, Eva goes on the offensive.

After her accident, Eva wakes up with the ability to foresee people’s deaths. She uses this power to try to keep her friends safe from the person who has now gone from attempting to kill her to sending her “gifts” that show their devotion to her.

And between the life and death situation she now finds herself in, her former friend Nate shows up. They try to work through their past differences and stay one step ahead of the killer, but as the murders get more frequent and desperate, it’s inevitable that Eva will come face to face with the one who wants her most.

‘Made for You’ review

Made for You by Melissa Marr is a quick-paced thriller that ramps up the stakes from the very beginning and doesn’t let go of you until the final page of Eva’s story.

The most captivating part of this book is the fact that not only do you get chapters from Eva’s perspective, you also get them from her best friend Grace’s point of view, as well as the killer’s. The killer’s chapters are chilling, to say the least, and show you an insider’s view of a psychopathic mind.

One of the hardest jobs a writer has is to keep a secret from both their characters and the readers. With an abundance of mystery programs on television today, our minds are overstimulated with the genre. It’s difficult to pull the wool over our eyes. Marr, however, does a fantastic job of revealing the identity of the killer at exactly the right moment, and not a second too soon.

Marr’s captivating writing once again pulls you into the story from the start. She finds time to weave suspense, horror, romance, and true friendship into the pages of her book without ever making any aspect feel like it didn’t absolutely belong. Fans of shows like The Following and Stalker will certainly find something they love in Made for You.

Made for You my Melissa Marr debuts on September 16. You can find the book on Goodreads, or purchase it from Amazon or IndieBound.
