In a new promo, series creator Matthew Weiner and the cast of Mad Men tease season 6 and where the plot is headed.

The promo contains several exciting quotes. We’ve transcribed them here for those of you unable to view the video.

“I think people will enjoy season 6 because it’s a real journey into learning about Don. It’s very much a reflection of the period we chose,” Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner said.

“There’s a lot of story to be told as well,” Jon Hamm said. “We’ve set up 60 some odd episodes of television here and we’re going to see a lot of our favorite characters doing a lot of different things.”

“It’s not what you think is coming. It’s not coming in the way that you thought it was coming and it’s probably not coming at all,” Jessica Paré says. “Unless you were expecting more great costumes and more big hair.”

“For my money certainly it’s one of the more exciting seasons. There’s a lot of stuff happening that would have never happened on the show three or four years ago,” Rich Sommer said.

“We left off in the spring of 1967. There is no year left between now and then that is not filled with upheaval,” Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner said.

“There are definitely two sides to life, the part of life that is public and the part that is private,” Jon Hamm said. “A little bit of what we’ve tried to do is sort of pull back the curtain.”

“It’s like getting almost to the end of a great book, you want to know how it ends. This is a novel that doesn’t repeat its beats a lot,” Jon Hamm said.

“What I hope people get is the next chapter in these peoples lives, a lot of insight into Don, a new dynamic, and also people striving to grow up,” Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner said.

There’s obviously a lot of really exciting quotes here, but perhaps the most telling is Jon Hamm saying that there are two sides of life. This lends to the theory that Don is back to his cheating ways. Recently we’ve seen two Dons on a poster, one of which has a mysterious woman on his arm, and another promo called season 6 “the affair of the year,” with “affair” being the word we’ve keyed in on there.
