With every day that passes, we continue to ask ourselves “When will Mad Men season 6 premiere?” We may have found the answer.

UPDATE: AMC has announced that Mad Men season 6 will premiere April 7 with a two-hour premiere!

On Friday, Aaron Paul announced the Breaking Bad premiere date for the second half of the fifth and final season. His tweet announcing the premiere date has since been removed, but it would be safe to assume that the July 14 date he announced is actually correct, and AMC just didn’t want it released yet.

What does this mean for Mad Men? Seeing as AMC airs all three of their most popular series on Sunday night, Mad Men season 6 will have to be over before Breaking Bad premieres. As there will be 13 episodes in Mad Men season 5 as usual, the latest the season could start would be April 14. The Mad Men season 6 premiere will also have to wait until after the season 3 finale of The Walking Dead on March 31. This makes April 7 the earliest the season could premiere.

Assuming the schedule adheres to a 13 week schedule, April 7 and April 14 are the only dates that Mad Men season 6 could premiere. It’s possible that Matthew Weiner could decide to do another two-part-episode, which could push the premiere date back to April 21. Either way, mid-April looks to the time to expect Mad Men season 6.

In an interview with Time magazine in December, John Slattery gave us a small update that could push us in the right direction:

We’re right in the thick of it. Everything is great. We just started about a month ago, right back in the groove again. It’ll be about the same time as last year [for the Season 6 premiere].

Mad Men season 5 premiered on March 25 and the April 7 date is the closest date to that, but it could be any of the dates mentioned. Our best guess would be April 7, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it was April 14 or April 21.
