Mad Max: Fury Road was a critical and financial success, leaving fans wanting a continuation of the film’s story. Warner Bros. is reportedly already talking about having Charlize Theron return in Mad Max: Furiosa.

With the Mad Max: Fury Road Blu-ray hitting stores on September 1, some deleted scenes have landed online a little early, but more importantly Deadline reports that we may be getting a spinoff titled Mad Max: Furiosa with Charlize Theron.

Mad Max: Fury Road took in a sizable box office total with $373 million worldwide, and with a RottenTomatoes score of 98%, the studio is bound to be looking at ways to expand the universe.

The one-armed badass was probably the best part of director George Miller’s reboot of ’80s franchise starring Mel Gibson. Furiosa was given most of the film’s dialogue, and a majority of the best action sequences.

It’ll be interesting to see if Miller would be willing to direct a sequel/spinoff that didn’t include Max, or at least didn’t feature him as much as Fury Road. It’s possible we may see another director brought in for the spinoff.

We can’t imagine anyone would complain about a spinoff featuring Furiosa. Theron put on an incredible performance, and while she said it was one of the most difficult shoots she’s ever been on, this is a great character for her.

The actress’ career has cooled over the last few years, and being the star of a franchise that was so well-received and financially successful would be hard to pass up. We hope the reports end up being true, as we would love to see Furiosa back up on the big screen.
